How can I repair cracks in pottery?

Dear Guy, I had one of your beautiful pots on my outside deck. This autumn, it was knocked over in heavy winds and now has a few cracks in it. I don't want to part with it, but I'm worried that the cracks will worsen over time if left untreated. What should I do?

Dear Angela,
Thanks for the note.  Just take some PC7 epoxy and swath a little along the cracks on the inside of the pot. I make a swath of about an inch wide. After applying the epoxy, take a damp cloth and smooth out any excess. The epoxy will become very much like the consistency of chewing gum when in contact with water. I sometimes take some 'cement stain' to the wet epoxy to warm up the color of the repair. I use this method for huge Tara-rosa pots as well.

All the best and thanks for the note.

Yours,

Guy
