Peter Wakefield Jackson
Wakefield Studio LLC
Peter and Guy first met nearly 20 years ago, when both were working on projects reproducing early American salt-glazed stoneware. They are both kindred spirits in their respect and admiration for the work of traditional potters. Peter's focus has always been on the production and business aspects of pottery, but he is also a master potter. He and Guy have worked together since 1997 to increase the production of Guy Wolff's designs beyond the capacity that Guy could make by himself in his small Connecticut studio.
Peter's background and training includes a degree in Studio Art from Knox College, and an apprenticeship with Minnesota potter Wayne Branum, specializing in wood-firing, salt glazing and traditional forms. He spent 2 years as a production potter with Rowe Pottery Works, before founding Rockdale Union Stoneware, which became one of the largest makers of custom decorated salt-glazed stoneware in the U.S.
In 2005, Peter joined Napa Home & Garden as Vice-President for Sales and Product Development. In this capacity, he works with potters in Honduras, China and Vietnam to develop garden pottery and home accessories. His many years of experience as a potter, combined with his technical and manufacturing expertise, help Napa bring to market distinctive and high quality wares that are very valuable to retailers and consumers.
Although his time in the studio is very limited, Peter's studio work is inspired by his grounding in traditional pottery, and his admiration and respect for the work of craftsmen throughout the world.
